What do the insurances cover?
Traveller insurance covers the costs of travel illnesses and accidents. The insurance also covers children under the age of 20 travelling with a member as well as children living in the same household. In addition, the member’s grandchildren and the spouse’s children under the age of 20 are insured.
Traveller insurance also includes cover in the event of a crisis, such as a terrorist attack or natural disaster. In crisis situations, the insurance covers the costs of an early return journey.
Baggage insurance provides protection against property damage during the trip.
Travel liability insurance covers you if you cause damage to a third party during your trip for which you are legally liable.
You can use the following as your travel insurance certificate:
- A membership card in the OAJ application
- A travel insurance certificate that you can order from Turva’s website to your e-mail and print out when travelling
To make sure your trip runs smoothly, please take your travel insurance certificate with you on your trip. You can get the insurance certificate and, if necessary, a visa certificate conveniently from the Turva website directly to your e-mail.

If you are admitted to hospital abroad or have problems with a healthcare institution
If the trip becomes difficult, contact the SOS emergency service mentioned on the certificate. They know the contents of the insurance. They provide help with problematic situations.
The insured is responsible for using the certificate only when they are covered by the insurance and during the validity of their membership.

Electronic compensation service
The electronic compensation service speeds up claims. You can apply for compensation from OAJ’s traveller insurance electronically.
Log in to the service with your online banking credentials. Only trade union members can apply for compensation through the electronic compensation service.
