We stand by our members
OAJ is the community and voice of its members. Members influence decision-making and participate in the administration of the organisation at all levels.
The highest decision-making authority in OAJ is held by the council, whose members are elected every four years. The council selects the organisation’s chair and board and decides on the organisation's strategy.
Levels of OAJ:
- National districts and associations
- Regional associations
- Local associations and teacher group-specific associations
Every member belongs to a local association, as joining OAJ is done through these local associations. There are a total of 318 local associations based on municipalities or employers.
In addition, OAJ has teacher group or institution-specific associations under the local associations, which bring together OAJ members from the same workplace. There are a total of 242 teacher group or institution-specific associations.
What is my association?
Your association is determined by the level of education and field of teaching you represent, as well as by your institution and employer.
You can get the contact information for your association from the contact teacher at your institution or by logging into My Profile. Please remember to update your profile if you change jobs or if there are any changes in your employment status.
You can also find all the local associations based on municipalities and employers on the membership application form. If you change jobs, your local association may change as well.
